JonOne, Nothing can stop me is the catalog of the street art exhibition by the same name that opened March 17th, 2018 at Palazzo Velli, Rome. Curated by the Wunderkammern Gallery, the exhibition brings together 25 major unpublished works by the New Yorker artist and two critical texts which introduce the readers in the universe of one of the most famous Street artist of the moment. JonOne, who moved from New York to Paris several years ago, has already collaborated with varoius brands such as Lacoste, Guerlain, Air France and Perrier.
His passage from the street to the gallery was natural, just as his vehicles passed from spray to brushes. Obsessed with his tag, and master in this, JonOne’s lettering blends with abstraction to give life to a work of fine art with a decided Urban taste. The catalog also includes works from Predictably Irrational, the JonOne exhibition at the Wunderkammern Gallery in Milan in 2016. John “JonOne” Perello was born in New York, Harlem where elaborate and colorful Graffiti Art thrived. His parents wer from the Dominican Republic. Growing up in Harlem, his introduction to street art began at an early age, when he would see graffiti and tags on subway cars and city walls. Adopting these modes of expression, JonOne used the energy he felt from the city to find freedom in painting his urban landscape. While he has evolved from his early tagging days, his art continues to be inspired by the “Urban Jungle” from his youth.
